I. ELIGIBILITY
1. Subject wise
eligibility conditions for different courses is given
below:
a.
Biosciences: M.Sc. in Botany/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/
Microbiology/ Molecular Biology/ Zoology/ or any other branch of
life sciences with minimum of 55% marks.
b.
Environmental Science &
Technology: M.Sc. or M. Tech./M.E. in Environmental Science /
Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Molecular Biology /
Botany / Zoology / or any other branch of life sciences or chemical
sciences with minimum of 55% marks.
c.
Comparative Literature: Master`s Degree in Comparative
Literature/Linguistics/ any Indian Language or allied/ relevant
field with minimum of 55% marks.
d.
South & Central Asian
Studies: Master`s Degree in South and Central Asian
Studies, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Public
Administration, Geography or allied/ relevant field with minimum of
55% marks.

2.The candidate appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply
and sit in the entrance examination. However, they will have to submit their result before
25th July 2010 till 5.00 p.m. failing which
their candidature will be cancelled. Self attested photocopy of the result should be sent
to Assistant Registrar, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda.

III. Centres
for Entrance Test
The entrance examination will be held at centres in following cities
in India, namely
Bangaluru, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata,
Mumbai and
Noida. The detailed
address of the centres will be communicated to the
students along with Roll No. before the date of entrance
examination.

IV. Pattern
and Syllabi for Entrance Test
I. Pattern of Examination

The question paper for the entrance
examination will consist of four sections A, B, C and D.

ii.

Section A will be common to all
candidates and will consist of 40 multiple choice questions
(MCQs).

Sections B, C and D will be
pertainingto thefields
of specialization and each of them will comprise of 60 MCQs.
|
|
|
|
iv.
|
Each question will have only one correct
answer. Each correct answer to a question will carry ‘1’ (one)
mark and an un-attempted question will carry ‘0’ (zero) mark.

v.
|
There will be negative marking i.e., for
each wrong answer ¼ (one by fourth) mark will be deducted from
the score obtained.

hybridization techniques, antisense RNA, RFLP, RAPD, AFLP, SSRs and

Criteria for Admissions:

Weightage for national level test
qualified candidates will be 30% of the score obtained in the
entrance test i.e. if a candidate scores 60 marks out of 100
marks in the entrance test he/she will be awarded 18 marks
(60x30/100).
(ii)
Weightage for candidates who have
not qualified any national level test will be 50% of the score
obtained in the entrance test i.e. if a candidate scores 60
marks out of 100 marks in the entrance test he/she will be
awarded 30 marks (60x50/100).
